Pergola

As-built aluminium pergola reviewed for structural approval, wind uplift resistance, and anchorage verification.

Project Overview

An existing aluminium pergola required structural approval from the Dubai Development Authority (DDA). The challenge was demonstrating resistance to wind uplift and verifying the adequacy of the existing foundation and anchorage system through structural analysis and engineering calculations.

Client Challenge

DDA objections on wind uplift resistance, missing structural layout drawings, roof material specification, and validation of the existing pedestal and anchor system all had to be resolved.

Scope of Work

Structural engineering and approval support for the existing pergola, including uplift verification, anchorage redesign, and authority-ready documentation.

Engineering Approach

Envero Engineering developed a full SAP2000 finite element model, verified wind uplift reactions, redesigned the chemical anchor system with increased embedment, and produced structural drawings alongside Hilti PROFIS verification reports.

Deliverables

  • SAP2000 finite element model
  • Wind uplift reaction verification
  • Redesigned chemical anchor system
  • Structural drawings for submission
  • Hilti PROFIS engineering verification reports

Results / Project Outcome

All DDA review comments were resolved, wind uplift capacity was verified with more than a 1.5 safety factor, wall connections achieved more than 85% reserve capacity, and the final regulatory submission was supported by SAP2000 and Hilti PROFIS verification.
